The Daily Guide
What are you saying?
Holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus who was faithful to Him who appointed Him.
Hebrews 3:1-2 - NKJV
How are things going for you? Perhaps you're considering the state of things in your life. If you are also consider this, our Lord Jesus is the High Priest of our confession. What is coming out of your mouth that is suitable for His ministry as High Priest? What confessions of your mouth can He use in that position? What are you saying in times of need or crisis that He can refer to? The way things are turning out for you often depends as much on what you are saying as it does on what you are praying!
King David of old sets you an example to follow. When surrounded by trouble and troublesome men he recognised he'd better watch his words. As a result he prayed, "Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips." Soon afterwards that he was declaring, not what his natural eyes were seeing, but what his spiritual eyes - his eyes of faith - were seeing. His confession became a faith confession. In his faith he was making confessions of faith. Before long, God turned conditions around for him. David got to see the enemies of his soul come to nothing in their plans against him. He experienced the Lord delivering him and raising him up in prominence and power. Psalm 141:3, Heb.11:1, 2Cor.4:13.
In prayer call on the Lord to watch over what you're saying. Give the Holy Spirit permission to tame your tongue. Let Him help you speak out what you know is so by faith. On your own you are never going to be able to bring your tongue under such control. You'll to have to let the Holy Spirit do it. Only the Holy Spirit, by His ministry to you and in you, can get your confession right for Christ.
Give Jesus a good confession to God's glory!
