The Anointed One
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives.
Luke 4:18 - NKJV
Hearts can get to really hurt. Heartache is a pain at the core of your being undetected by doctors' equipment but very real to you. You don't know where to turn in this world to relieve it but you can turn to Jesus! A great part of His mission as the Anointed One is to heal your broken heart and release you from the captivity you are held in by the ache of your heart.
The Bible verse above is a statement of the Gospel of the Christ. It is the mission statement of Christ. Jesus spoke it over Himself and His mission reading from the prophet Isaiah as His ministry got under way at Nazareth. It is Christ's good news to you, His glad tidings of salvation for you. It's what He came to do for you through His ministry on earth and His sacrifice on the cross. This mission is one He goes on fulfilling from His place of highest honour in Heaven because He is still Christ, the Anointed One, head of the church and Saviour of the Body. Keep reminding yourself of this. Keep looking to live in its good news. Eph.5:23.
Each morning in prayer I get in the presence of Jesus and let Him be Christ, the Anointed One, to me. I let Him by His anointing preach the gospel to me and proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord to me. I let Him heal my heart and liberate me. I get under the flow of His anointing to allow it to be a healing balm for my heart, a cure for the hurts of disappointments or people's reproaches. Let Jesus be the Anointed One, in this way, to you in your life! Resort to Him and He will heal those heartaches.
Let the Anointed One heal the hurts!
