Perfect peace for you!

by Pastor Simon

You (God) will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Isaiah 26:3 - NKJV

Are you or your capabilities being stretched to the limit? You can live above the stress, tension or pressure of this by focusing your mind on Jesus! One way I have of doing this is to keep my mind in the sphere of God's Word. By this I mean, instead of allowing my mind to run helter-skelter around every conceivable scenario I keep myself in mind of what God's Word has promised. His promises tell me how God is ready to make things turn out well for me. Ro.8:32, 1Cor.15:57.

When my son Ben was attending university the week before his final exam I could hear on the phone he was greatly worrying about it. So I phoned back to remind him of the Lord's strategies for dealing with anxiety. First, I spoke about prayer and casting his cares on the Lord. Then, I mentioned exercise. Going for a brisk, lengthy walk, for example, is a great calmer. Why not combine walking and praying! Get your mind on Jesus. Look to God's Spirit to give you a Bible promise to match your situation! Pray. Joh.14:26, Psa.119:160.

The scripture at the top is just the precious promise you need in a time of pressure! You need it as a reminder to yourself. You can speak it to your own soul as an exhortation. Tell your soul to get your eyes off the burden of the problem and see Jesus the problem solver. What you face may look insurmountable to your natural eyes but it is very do-able from where God sits above it all! You also need that scripture as a promise to present to the Lord as part of your petition in prayer for help. Phil.4:6-7.

In the challenges of life have a mind for God!
