Perfect peace for you
You (God) will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3 - NKJV
The scripture above is just the precious promise you need in a time of pressure! When my son Ben was attending university the week before his final exam I could hear on the phone he was greatly worrying about it. So I phoned back to remind him of the Lord's strategies for dealing with anxiety. First, I spoke about prayer and casting his cares on the Lord. Then, I mentioned exercise. Going for a brisk, lengthy walk, for example, is a great calmer. Of course, you could always combine walking and praying.
You can live above the stress, tension or pressure by focusing your mind on Jesus! One way I have of doing this is to keep my mind in the sphere of God's Word. By this I mean, instead of allowing my mind to run helter-skelter around every conceivable scenario I keep myself in mind of what God's Word has promised. His promises tell me how God is ready to make things turn out well for me. Get your mind on Jesus. Look to God's Spirit to give you a Bible promise to match your situation. Psa.119:160.
Are you or your capabilities being stretched to the limit? Tell your soul to get your eyes off the burden of the problem and see Jesus the problem solver. What you face may look insurmountable to your natural eyes but it is very do-able from where God sits above it all! The scripture at the start of this devotional message is a promise you can present to the Lord as part of your petition for help. You need it too as a reminder to yourself of how and where peace is found. Speak it to yourself as an exhortation. Phil.4:6-7.
