Epiphany

by Pastor Simon

We have the prophetic word [made] firmer still. You will do well to pay close attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dismal (squalid and dark) place, until the day breaks through (the gloom) and the Morning Star rises in your hearts.

2 Peter 1:19 - Amplified Bible

Jesus is the Morning Star. Let's be preparing for His appearing in our lives. Let's be looking for His epiphany; His manifestation or appearing for the second time! Ti.2:13.

Christians in some parts of the Church use the word epiphany as the name of a festival. The festival of the Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th. It commemorates the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles in the form of the three wise men. Epiphany is the transliteration of the Greek word "epiphaneia". Paul uses that Greek word in writing to Timothy about Christ's appearing. Paul uses it both of Jesus' appearing among men at His birth (2 Tim.1:10) and of His appearing the second time with power and great glory. (1 Tim.6:14) As Christians now we are looking for this second appearing. It is the blessed hope!

Yet there is an epiphany that needs even more of our attention - it is the epiphany of Christ in our lives! Let's have an epiphany of Christ in our lives! We need to pray for Christ to "finally settle down and feel completely at home in our hearts through our faith" (Wuest - Eph.3:17) We need to give the utmost heed to the Word of God given to us by Christ and His prophets. By this, the horizon of our lives will cleared so that others can see Christ, the Morning Star, rising in our hearts and coming into manifestation in our lives!

May Christ appear gloriously in your life!
