Feast at the Lord's table

by Pastor Simon

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.

Psalm 23:5 - NKJV

On one particular morning I opened my Bible and I prayed, "Lord by Your Spirit cause me to feed on Your Word." Immediately the Spirit spoke in my heart, "Do better than feed, feast!" It made me realise that, while I come nibbling, I could be feasting for the Lord has provided a feast for His children! Deut.8:3.

The Lord has prepared a table before us. In the Lord's banqueting hall there is a banquet on His table and we are the children of His table. Have you drawn up a chair? Are you partaking of this feast of God's Spirit and God's Word? It takes time for a feast but if you keep running around only grabbing a bite here and there never stopping for a solid meal you'll very soon run out of strength! Come in from your field of service by the gate of thanksgiving and feast. At the table in fellowship with Christ you will be nourished and strengthened. SoS.2:4; 1Cor.10:21; Isa.55:1-3.

You don't have to keep running. You can take the time for this. Draw up your chair for the feast at Christ's table in Christ's presence! You're missing out on so much if you aren't doing this each day. Sit down and eat from the Lord's sumptuously prepared table! You have God's promises of rest in Him. The Lord will keep you and protect your affairs as you take time with Him feasting on His Word. Put you weight down on the chair of God's promises and enjoy that meal He's prepared. P.S. There's a bonus for at His table you will find that you are refreshed by His oil of anointing. Heb.4:9, Psa.127:1-2.

Sit and partake of the feast of God's goodness!
