Citizens of another world
Your constant concern must be with the heavenly realities, not with worldly trivialities. For you died to this world, and now you have entered with Christ into the secret life of God.
Colossians 3:2-3 - Barclay's Translation
What's getting most of your attention? Is it worldly 'trivialities' or heavenly realities? Your affairs in the world need taking care of. Are they, though, dominating your view of things? If they are, you aren't 'sitting' in the right place! The call to you from Heaven is to take your seat with Jesus in heavenly places. Eph.2:6.
You have a citizenship, a throne and an inheritance beyond anything in this world. Your citizenship is of Heaven, your throne is Christ's and your inheritance comes from God. You will see it as much as you live like you are alive to it! Know yourself as a citizen of Heaven. God wants you to have your main communications with Him. He wants you to know your roots are in Him. You can go about in this world as His ambassador. You can draw your identity, your integrity and your priorities in life from your relationship with God. In this way, you will enter into "the secret life of God" referred to in the verse above.
Paul tells us, "You died to this world". Is this your experience? To answer this you need to ask yourself, "If I'm really dead to this world, what am I alive to instead?" Be alive to God! Be alive to what God through Christ has done in your life! It will cause you to offer praise to Him continually. Live a relationship with God each day. In this way, you'll have a continuous revelation of the presence, power and activity of His kingdom.
