Repentance brings restoration
But when he (the lost son) came to himself he said, "I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.'"
Luke 15:17-18 - NKJV
We can take encouragement in this! At times, we get off doing things that are out of God's will but as God's children the Holy Spirit can usually eventually record of us, "But when he came to himself!" Once the lost son came to his spiritual senses - came to himself - the story turns and he becomes an encouragement and a sample to us all!
In Christ, your past does not have to go on determining your future. Each one of us can make the decision to return to the Father saying, "I'm going to arise out of my present circumstances and go to my Father!" The moment you turn back to God the Father and confess your sin, He forgives you. This is repentance - you perform a right-about-face (Acts 3:19). At this the door of restoration is open to you. Once again you can experience the vitality, authority and privilege of sonship. In this restored state, all things can be restored in your life in the same way it was to the lost son! 1Joh.1:7,9; Joel 2:12-26.
It's when you separate yourself from your Heavenly Father (even for a short time) that your life starts to get spiritually lost. If this were to happen to you, soon you'd be lost in every way because the rhyme and reason for your life would start to fade away. Go back to walking in the light with God! Return again to the fellowship of the Father. If you've got lost, come to your spiritual senses and turn back to the Father's house. The Father will come out to greet you.
Arise and go to your Father!
