Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you.
Psalm 55:22 - New Living Translation
In this physical realm of earth God gave us camels, elephants and donkeys to carry our burdens. God did not intend you to journey with a burden, He gave pack animals for that. This illustrates how God wants us to live in the spiritual; He wants us free from the weight of the burden of cares of this life.
The story is told of a farmer carrying a sack of potatoes to market. The lord of the manor happened along riding his carriage. As he approached the farmer he slowed down and called to him, "Let me give you a lift with that sack into town". "That's very kind of you," the farmer replied and scrambled up, seating himself in the carriage with his sack of potatoes on his lap. After awhile the lord said to the farmer, "Why don't you set that sack down behind you and enjoy the comfort of this journey in my carriage?" To this the farmer replied, "Oh no, thank you but you've done so much for me already I wouldn't want to impose on your generosity any further."
A funny story but does it sound like any of us? Are you carrying any burdens on your journey today that you could put down in the vehicle God the Father has seated you in? The moment you sense you are doing this ask God for a promise in His Word to rest your burden on. Take it as a pledge. By speaking that promise out loud lay on it your burdens and cares. God will see to it that your burdens are carried for you because He cares for you. "All you who are heavy laden, I will give you rest!" Mat.11:28.
Deposit your cares and burdens with God!
