A pattern of thanksgiving

by Pastor Simon

Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness.

Colossians 1:12,13 - NKJV

Praise the Lord for the glorious condition you are in because of His salvation. You will find an awesome list of things to praise the Lord for in the early part of Paul's letter to the Colossians. It's a list of things God has done for you through His Son. Use this list to be specific in your thanksgiving. Thank God specifically for what He's done for you through Jesus! In doing this you'll find yourself marvelling at the totality of God's work of salvation through Christ. Col.1:12-14.

In Christ you are "a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light". You are a partaker of it because your inner condition in Christ has qualified you for it. What is that inner condition? It is one of being a child of God. You received Jesus and the resulting new birth made you a child of God. You have sonship. It is this that makes you fit (qualified) to be "a partaker of the inheritance of the saints in light". What is that inheritance of the saints? It is the legacy Jesus left for them. It is everything Jesus accomplished and left for us in His death. His sacrifice on the cross has left you with an inheritance. You are an heir of God. You are a joint heir with Jesus Christ. Joh.1:12-13; Ro.8:16-17.

You have to get up and step into your inheritance. Come to the Father in confidence that you are qualified to receive it. Allow the knowledge of Christ's eternal salvation in your life provide you with that confidence. Come by the confidence arising from God's promises.

By faith partake of Christ's inheritance
