Emotional well-being

by Pastor Simon

You, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Jude 1:20-21 - NKJV

I was asked, "I cry while I am praying in the spirit is that normal?" Well, yes it can be! This is because the experience of pouring out your heart can touch your emotions and in many ways this is part of the healing or restoring process that your soul needs at that time. Often there is a build up of emotions in your life that is directly connected to what is happening at the level of your heart. Praying in tongues pours out to God the heartfelt issues.

There can be a weight of cares on your heart and a distress of hurt. Praying in tongues is an opportunity for the weight to be lifted and the hurt to be healed. Then, as this happens - because of that connection between heart and emotions - the emotions too are restored to well-being. Your emotional well-being is important to God. Your emotional life is part of who you are and your emotional well-being is part of the testimony of how God is your strength and comforter. In prayer you worship, praise and petition God and as you do He manifests His care for you, His comfort, His love and His restoring power. Psa.62:8.

Pour out to God the burden and hurt of your heart! Release the pressure of pent-up emotions! How do you do this best? By praying in the Holy Spirit. Give the Holy Spirit the use of your tongue as He streams out your cares and concerns to God from your heart. The Holy Spirit can convey all your heart's needs to God. God cares for you. He loves you. Ro.8:26-27.
