The blessing of worship

by Pastor Simon

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

Lamentations 3:40-41 - KJV

Praise may be a sacrifice but worship is always a blessing. There is a sacrifice of praise called for in our lives but, as you make that sacrifice unreservedly, it leads to the blessing of worship. Worship is an expression of adoration for your Lord and Saviour. Your worship can be that of true worshippers. True worshippers worship "out of their very beings, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration." See Joh.4:24 - Message.

David, the king, psalmist and prophet lived this way! In his life, there were many moments when praising God was a sacrifice to him. Yet, by offering this sacrifice in spite of how he felt or how things looked, it led him to glorious moments of worship as he beheld God's power and majesty. Worship was to David a blessing. In it he experienced the Lord's refreshing - his soul and body came to life in God. May you experience this too! In worship, may you come to life with the life of God! Psa.63:1-5, Jer.33:11.

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord. Lift up your hands and your heart to Him in adoration. Lift up your heart to Him with your hands and praise Him with joyful lips. Revel in the Lord. Delight yourself in Him. Enjoy a time of absolute communion with the Father. Bask in the refreshment and renewing that comes from His presence. Worship that refreshes comes at that moment when within you there comes an awareness of God's glory! Bring your sacrifice of praise to God and worship! Psa.16:11, 134:2.
