Dressed for battle

by Pastor Simon

Put on the complete armor of God...For ours is not a conflict with mere flesh and blood, but with the despotisms, the empires, the forces that control and govern this dark world - the spiritual hosts of evil arrayed against us in the heavenly warfare.

Ephesians 6:11-12 - Weymouth's translation

I was talking with a young Christian who was really going through it. He said, "I know Jesus loves me but this news I've received has overwhelmed me with fear over what's going to happen!" So I started telling him about the warfare he was up against - a spiritual battle directed at his emotions, will and thinking.

The Holy Spirit ministers in you the fruit of the spirit. This fruit ensures your character as a child of God shines through in your life. The devil fights this because he knows that when love, joy and peace are overflowing in you then you will choose God's way of responding in life. The adverse events of this life can be manifestations of spiritual assaults against you designed to steal away from you a sound mind. Love, joy and peace can keep your mind but spiritual assaults can be launched against you to deny you this keeping. In such assaults inflammatory darts are shot against you to ignite wild fires of emotions and thinking. The strategy is to fuel a carnal reaction in you - emotionally and mentally - to the people and circumstances around you. Gal.5:19-23.

In the whole armour of God resist this strategy of the devil. The spiritual assaults you experience are unseen but nevertheless with manifestations that impact on you. Evil forces would like to have an impacting, disruptive, destructive influence in your life. The devil enlists his evil forces carry this out. Wear the whole armour of God and they cannot win or in anyway succeed. God has provided you with His very own armour. In that armour you will emerge triumphant from every adversity. Eph.6:11, Ja.4:7, 2Cor.2:14.

You'll win through in the armour of God
