The Daily Guide
How did Jesus do it?
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
Psalm 37:37 - NKJV
I saw a ballroom dancing instruction book once. It was mostly pages of footsteps. The pattern of the steps of the dances were illustrated and numbered. If you studied these until you became familiar with them, and practised them with music to accompany them, then you could successfully do the dance. The Gospels present us with the illustrated footsteps of Jesus Christ. If you follow those footsteps, practising them to the music that the Holy Spirit provides, then your dancing in life will be good.
We have Jesus as an example to follow as we go through the situations of lives. How well have we marked Him and beheld Him in order to follow Him to a culmination of peace in our lives? He is the perfect man we ought to mark. He is the upright one we need to behold. Jesus was anointed to bring peace to His people and His end became peace for us all. Jesus came and lived among us so that, as the Message translation puts it, "we would know that it could be done and also know how to do it." 1 Pet.2:21.
I was challenged this morning by this. The Holy Spirit was in it prompting me to think about the reality of my application of this in my life. Most Christians pay lip service to following in the footsteps of Jesus rather than seeking to accurately and actively do it. The time has come for us to study more diligently the footsteps of Jesus. We haven't yet watched Him carefully enough to imitate His every move in every place in our lives. The challenge is for us learn where His footsteps lie in every situation we come into.
Learn His footsteps so you can do them every time!
