Peace in Christ
Unto us a Son is given, Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever.
Isaiah 9:6,7 - NKJV
Upon the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ the angels declared, "On earth peace, goodwill toward men!" For-seeing this glorious event the prophet Isaiah declared, "Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given!" These marvellous utterances are today in many of the Christmas cards we send to friends, family and colleagues. They announce the real meaning of Christmas! They tell that God's gift of peace entered our realm through the Child Jesus.
How sad that over 2000 years later many have yet to taste of this peace! I read an email the outline of a man's life. It seemed to be a life lived with a complete absence of any manifestation of Christ's government and peace. I could see from what he wrote the reason why. It appeared he had never received to himself the Child Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Yet I also hear of those who have made a confession for Christ and still do not have an experience of His government and His peace. Why is this? How is it to be experienced? By resorting daily to the relationship of peace with God that Jesus Christ has given! Rom.5:1, Heb.10:19-22.
God's peace and Christ's government has entered the human realm. Both are towards all people on the earth. However, if you want them to come upon you you need to embrace the Gift Giver as well as the gift. Those who experience them are those who receive Christ and live in the new relationship with the Father that He brought. Daily fellowship with God the Father through Jesus Christ and experience His peace.
