Pray like Jesus prayed!

by Pastor Simon

In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, 'I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes.'

Luke 10:21 - NKJV

Jesus gave thanks! In the verse above this thanksgiving was against a background of the seventy disciples returning rejoicing in the manner of the natural man, that is to say, soulishly. Their behaviour lacked any spiritual accuracy. Nevertheless, Jesus found reason for thanksgiving. Jesus gave thanks to the Father for His work of revelation in their lives!

Follow Jesus example, be specific about what you are thanking God for. God has done specific things for you, be specific in your thanks to Him. You could start your thanksgiving from the crib of Christ, that is, the representation of Jesus arriving for your sake! Next take it to the cross of Christ and from there to the crowning of Christ in glory with the Father. This should see you ready to thank Him for your salvation, your redemption and your reconciliation to God. You have an eye for glory the moment you start giving thanks. It lifts your focus up from the troubled seas or contrary winds of life to God.

Come out of life's mud - simply break out into thanksgiving and so take your seat with Christ. In that place of victory you'll see things as Christ sees them. You will view the "now season" framed by the cross and Christ's crowning on one side and the blessed hope of His return on the other! Put thanksgiving first in your prayer time. This will lead you to present your petitions accurately and with a joy and power that God delights to respond to! Eph.2:6.

Thanksgiving positions you for prayer!
