God with you
Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9 - NKJV
In life and ministry, I constantly face the challenge of being presented with new tasks demanding more of me. Often those new tasks are asking for new skills, better organisation and more courage to tackle them. It's not unusual to have a sense of inadequacy in the face of such challenges but just imagine how Joshua, the man who took over from Moses, must have felt!
Joshua had been thrust to the forefront of the nation's affair. Moses was dead and now the eyes of the great multitude of the Children of Israel were on him. He and the people had spent forty frustrating years in the Wilderness. Now, in front of Joshua was the chance to take the Promised Land. I find myself connecting with his sense of not being up to the task, don't you? Wonderfully, however, in the midst of this God began to speak. God said, "Be strong and very courageous. I am going to be with you every step of the way ahead!"
God has for you a word to give great courage and confidence! Whether you sense there's a great battle looming up ahead of you or you feel the challenges lining up to confront you are immense, remember who's walking with you! Remember who's on your side! The Lord mighty in battle is with you. The Lord mighty to deliver is on your side. Whatever faces you God says to you, "I will be with you every moment and in every place. I will defend you, strengthen you and uphold you. Be strong and of good courage!" Isa.41:10-12, Psa.24:7-10.
In your inadequacy know God's adequacy!
