Assured by His will

by Pastor Simon

Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.

Acts 16:10 - NKJV

In England we have a church denomination that ends every announcement of an event with the words, "God willing". Now that sounds very saintly and yet I always find myself asking, "If you don't know it's God's will why are you putting on the event?"

God has a will about people and things and you can know it. How is that possible? Because He has given us His Word and His Spirit so we can know what He's willing to do and know what He's wanting to happen. We have a responsibility to seek this out and then to act accord to it. This doesn't, of course, mean we'll know every detail of what's to happen but it does mean that by God's Word and God's Spirit we can know what God's "willing for to happen" in our regard and in regard to others! For an example willingness see 1 Timothy 2:4.

You need to know God's will - your requests in prayer and your actions towards objectives need basing on it! In prayer and in action you need to have a solid confidence over the outcome so that the devil can't use adversity to move you off your purpose. Don't leave yourself in a position where when adversity comes you're saying, "Well, perhaps it wasn't God's will". Get aware of God's will so you can confidently petition and confidently proceed. Adjustments along the way may well need making to both what you're doing or how you're praying but at least start out with a knowledge of what God's will is. In this way you'll endure and reach your goal. Eph.1:17-19, Ro.12:2, 1 Cor.2:12.

God has a will you can know!
