Child of the Lord's table

by Pastor Simon

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. Sustain me with cakes of raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am lovesick.

Song of Solomon 2:4-5 - NKJV

Learning to recognise God's goodness towards you is a big part of growing up spiritually. As you daily commune with God in prayer and in pondering His words you come to see how good He is! The spiritual setting for this is His banqueting house. In your times of worship and devotion as the Lord's child you draw up a chair to the Lord's banquet table. There you fellowship with Him as He sets before you a spiritual table of good things. Isa.55:1-2.

In my house the evening meal together as a family remains the centre of our home life. The schedules of our day may take us all in different directions but this evening meal time brings us all together again. Together we enjoy good food and we fellowship. We enjoy each other's company by hearing one another's reports, stories, humour and comments. Even when he was quite young our youngest child Arthur actively took part in the conversation. I believe God enjoys seeing this from Christian families. Psa.128:3-4.

Your life can be centred around your daily fellowship with the Lord at His table. In this way you can experience the enhanced, blessed life God intends for His children. The Lord loves your companionship. He loves to see you enjoying the water, the wine and the meat of His table. He calls you to draw up your chair. He wants your fellowship at His table. Be a child of the Lord's table. At His table you can know His goodness and mercy accompanying you in all your days. Ps.23:6.
