An invitation to intercession
Our constant prayer for you is that our God will find you worthy of the invitation he sent to you, and that he may turn all your good intentions into actions, and powerfully help you to live the life that faith demands.
2 Thessalonians 1:11 - Barclay's Translation
Recorded in the Bible are prayers the prophets, the apostles and Jesus spoke. I often take those prayers as my prayers because they convey so beautifully to our Heavenly Father matters needing attention. I pray for people in my church, for example, after the manner you see in the Bible verse above, "May God turn all your good intentions into actions, and powerfully help you to live the life that faith demands."
In the Church that Jesus is building (Mat.16:18) there's been a glorious shift to a better balance in service. It's a shift from working and praying to praying and working. We used to have Christians working and complementing it with prayer. Now we have Christians praying and complementing it with work! This is a different spiritual position. This is akin to faith coming to life my corresponding action. It's preparing the way for God's glory in people's lives.
To pray and follow it up with work is to recognise that the real work must be initiated and carried out by God. It is only as God works and we act as His co-labourers that our work takes on a divine dimension. Are you looking to see God's glory in certain people's lives? Pray for them before you attempt to have input into them. Give thanks for other believers whenever you pray for them. Intercede for other believers that they may meet the challenges and overcome them through Christ. 2Cor.6:1
Pray consistently, pray persistently
