Signs of Christ's coming

by Pastor Simon

Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church.

Ephesians 5:25-27 - NKJV

At this time I'm not looking for signs in the world of Christ's return. I've already seen those. Those signs Jesus spoke of as happening before His second coming have been visible for some time. By this I know the general time frame for His return is here. What I am now looking for is signs in the Church. I am looking to see the Church in a transitional phase towards being the glorious Church. I am asking myself, "Is the Church looking as though it will soon be the glorious Church?" Mat.24:4-8.

Upon His return the Church will be a fitting bride for the King of kings and Lord of lords! Christ intends to present the Church to Himself as a glorious Church. Indeed, Christ is at work preparing the Church for that time. Jesus is ministering in the Church. He is sanctifying the Church by His Spirit. He is also washing her with His Word. The Church will appear with Christ in the same glory that He Himself has on the day He returns! This is the day we are looking for with expectation. This is the day for which we need to be cooperating and working with Him. 1Joh.3:2, Tit.2:13.

There's work to be done. Let's pray in the Holy Spirit with perseverance and supplication. Let's drink in Christ's words. Let's allow ourselves to be conduits of the living water of His Word. Let's work with Him to bring salvation to the lost. Let's work with Him to water His garden, that is, the Church! This sums up the mission Christ has for us to fulfil as we wait in expectation for His return. Eph.6:18; Joh.7:37-38.
