A flood-tide of gratitude

by Pastor Simon

Everything is for your sakes, and the purpose of it all is that grace, as it reaches more and more people, should beget an ever-increasing flood-tide of gratitude to the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 4:15 - William Barclay's translation

I like that phrase "an ever-increasing flood-tide of gratitude". A flood-tide of gratitude will change the landscape of your life and bring glory to God. That excites me because I've seen the transforming power of gratitude in my life. I have seen the power of praise coming from grateful hearts.

Apostle Paul reflected on what grace had done for him and testified, "I don't deserve to be included in that inner circle...but because God was so gracious, so very generous, here I am." Coming to such a realisation of what grace has done for you will cause you to be filled with gratitude to God! Ponder what grace has done for you! Look at what it has brought you into! Your salvation came about by grace. Your life in the Lord is sustained by grace. It's good to pray, "Lord, teach me to appreciate Your grace and celebrate it in gratitude." 1Cor.15:9-10.

A grateful heart makes for a beautiful countenance. King David testified, "The lines are fallen to me in pleasant places." David's life long attitude of gratitude meant his face in old age testified of God's grace in his life. Sarah was beautiful in old age. Peter says she had the beauty that emanates from within from a gentle and quiet spirit or, in other words, from an attitude of gratitude. Let gratitude grace your face today! Psa.16:6, Gen.12:11, 1Pet.3:4-6.

It's time to get caught up in gratitude!
