The Daily Guide
Your prayers are precious!
Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Revelation 5:8 - NKJV
God delights in the prayers of His saints. Our prayers are a delight to His heart. Our prayers produce sweet incense in heaven. The Lord receives our prayers with joy like to that of the joy of our hearts when we rejoice at a fresh fragrance.
The verse above tells us that the twenty-four elders in heaven are getting in on the prayer activity of the saints. These elders are our forefathers in the faith who have departed from us but haven't forgotten their close link with us in God's family. As a result, they hold up our prayers before God like golden bowls full of incense. Knowing this should get you excited about the role of prayer in our lives. In Heaven it seems everyone is keen to get in on the prayer activity of the saints! In Revelation chapter 8 we read that an angel appears before the altar of Heaven swinging a golden censer. What's he doing? He's adding to the incense arising from the elders' golden bowls which are the prayers of the saints! Heb.12:1. Rev.8:3-4.
What does all this mean to you? It means your prayers are revered in heaven as special to God and precious! Your prayers are highly regarded in Heaven. You, therefore, should likewise highly regard them on earth! Offer your prayers with delightful worship. As you present your petitions be conscious of their esteemed place in Heaven. As you make your requests be wholly confident of their acceptance. 1 Joh.5:14-15.
God hears your prayers and answers!
