A home of your heart

by Pastor Simon

It is my (Paul's) prayer that our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father...may give comfort and courage to your hearts, and make them strong always to do and to speak all that is good.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 - Barclay's Translation

Paul's prayer for the Thessalonians is strategic! It's one to pray. Pray for God to strengthen you with might by His Spirit in your inner man. This will result in wonderful changes taking place with you. 1) The love of God will be established in you and you in it. 2) There will be in you an increase in the power to see things through. 3) Your spirit will know strength to take control of your life. Eph.3:16-19, Col.1:11, Eph.4:24.

God's Spirit wants to strengthen your heart with might. As this happens Jesus can settle down there and feel completely at home. He will be no longer an occasional visitor but an inhabitant. When Jesus inhabits your heart, your life starts to feel complete. You become adequate for every good work you are called to perform and every good word you are called to speak. Jesus becomes your adequacy!

This is a significant step onwards for you in Christ. In the Bible you read Jesus say to you, "I stand at the door (of your heart) and knock." He waits for an invitation to enter. You gave Him an invitation on the day of your salvation. He accepted! At first He was a guest and you needed to make Him feel at home in your heart. The Holy Spirit's strengthening with might in your inner man turns your heart into a dwelling place for Jesus Christ! Jesus is happy to be settled there. Rev.3:20.

Pray for the dynamic strength of God!
