From the seeds of sacrifice
So, dear friends, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?
Romans 12:1 - New Living Translation
God calls for us to live differently to this world. He calls us to buck the trend! The trend in this world is toward self-promotion. Self-sacrifice, on the other hand, is scorned. In contrast to this God looks for us to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. If we would make ourselves a living sacrifice by obedience and surrender to God then there would be a resurrection of our lives into a glory that only heaven can give!
"I always do," Jesus said, "those things that please Him" That was the way Jesus walked on this earth. Because Jesus walked that way God the Father was always with Him and always doing glorious works by Him. God wants it to be like that with you too. He is looking for men and women like you to walk with Him in glory. He knows that when you do then the words can be fulfilled that Jesus spoke saying, "The works that I do he (the one who believes in and abides in Me) will do also!" John 8:29; 14:10; 14:12.
What's the plan then? It's for (1) you and me always doing things that please Him and (2) it's for Him always being with us doing His works through us. Towards this end and with this in mind the apostle Paul said, "I plead with you, dear friends." Paul had a vision for what would happen when we all started giving ourselves over to God. Let's do it. Let's turn over our lives to God. Let's recognise He can do far more with our lives than ever we could even imagine! Joh.13:17.
God wants to work His works in us!
