Letting God work
Samuel said, "What have you done?" And Saul said, "When I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed...Therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering." And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly."
1 Samuel 13:11-13 - KJV
God is willing to promote you but He needs you to trust Him to do it. God by His Spirit will orchestrate prosperity in your life but He expects you to rely on Him for it and not to start grabbing and pushing to get it by your own natural strength and reasoning.
The Bible passage above gives you a snap shot from the life of King Saul. It is a conversation where the prophet Samuel confronts Saul. Saul was a man who had it all going for him in the natural. Sadly, though, Saul insisted on pushing ahead in that natural capacity and in the end it lost him everything! Saul's successor was David. In contrast to Saul, David waited on God. David was confident in God to bring him into his kingdom. David allowed God to be the prime mover in setting things up, settings things right and promoting him to the throne. He didn't take things into his own hands. He didn't resort to natural means and reasoning to get himself on to the throne that was promised him. See 1 Samuel 24:1-12.
Goals are good and desires are good. We all need those but at the same time we all need to let God's Spirit do the biggest part of the work, the behind the scenes part. You have to commit your desires and goals to God. You have to leave them with Him in His charge and safekeeping. God can make so much more out of everything than you possibly ever could by your own efforts alone!
Let God work and you'll see it happen!
