Be set on pilgrimage
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a spring; the rain also covers it with pools. They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.
Psalm 84:5-6 - NKJV
Who is blessed? According the scripture above it's the one whose strength is in the Lord. The one who has his heart set on a pilgrimage. A pilgrimage is a journey to a sacred destination. Journeys always seem long as you make them. What matters, though, is that you finally make it to the destination.
I have made many journeys. Some of the journeys I've made after becoming a Christian were very long. One of them was on a coconut oil freighter from North Sumatra to Java and it lasted five days and five nights. As think back on it it isn't the length of the journey or the hardships on the journey I remember. I remember instead the helps and the miracles that made the journey possible. I also remember the joy of our final arrival at the destination. My wife and I are where we are now because of the journeys, literal and metaphorical, that we've made. These journeys and arriving at destinations have brought us to where we are in life now.
Set off on a journey, a pilgrimage, into the future God has in mind for you. It's in making a journey that you start passing milestones and pressing on to the destination. Break camp and move forwards. Journey to the future you want. Never mind how long it might take. Never mind, for now, the terrain you're likely to cross. By faith see the destination, that future God wants to bring you into. By faith also, see the One who's making the journey possible. Look to Jesus! Heb.12:1-2.
Journey forwards looking to Jesus!
