Expressions of thankfulness
I am always thankful to God for what the gift of his grace in Christ Jesus has meant to you. For, as the Christian message has become established among you, he has enriched your whole lives, from the words on your lips to the understanding in your hearts.
1 Corinthians 1:4-6 - J.B. Phillips' translation
The Apostle Paul penned the words in the verse above. They are his expression of his thankfulness for God's gift of grace. As I read them I started thanking God afresh. I thought of what the gift of God's grace had meant to people in my church. I thought about what it had meant to me in my life. How wonderfully our lives have been saved and enriched in every way by God's gift of grace!
Look what the gift of God's grace had done for Paul. By the grace of God he had gone from being a persecutor of the Church to an apostle of Jesus Christ. By the grace of God he laboured for Christ more exhaustively than all the other apostles. No wonder he felt so thankful. God's grace does this sort of thing in your life when you respond to it. It enriches your life by delivering you from spiritual destitution and death and by turning you to life and riches in Christ Jesus! 1 Cor.15:9-10.
Keep yourself in the place where you can say like Paul, "The grace God gave me has not proved a barren gift!" When it came to bringing forth your eternal salvation it wasn't a barren gift; don't let it be a barren gift in bringing forth the day to day saving work of God that you need in your life. Respond to God's gift of grace. Give yourself over to grace. Go along with its holy influence over you. 2Cor.6:1
May you experience the saving work of grace!
