Hope and a future

by Pastor Simon

I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11 - NIV

Let's face it - life's not often a straight, open road with every destination clearly sign posted. Sometimes we're left wondering where on earth we're headed! This is where our faith in God needs to come in. It needs to settle us down to either enjoy the journey or else to calmly receive God's instructions on which direction to travel now.

At times I think about my future. When I do I want to know God's desire for me. Almost every time I'm led to Jeremiah 29:11. God's word of promise above - Jeremiah 29:11 - is our assurance that God has a future in mind for us of perfect well-being and every necessary good. Our reflections on what God has in mind for us should be based on this declaration to us. There is no dead end in mind for our lives with God. He sees us moving forward from glory to glory into a glorious future. 2 Cor.3:18

Are you going through a valley of tears at the moment? The rougher the journey the more you need God. The promise above was given through Jeremiah to give you hope in that place. It's there to encourage you that if you keep walking in company with God you are going to come through it. In trust, set your heart on passing through that valley making His Word by His Spirit your reviving water. Let that water grant you strength upon strength to make it through through the valley and out into God's glory. Open your Bible to Psalm 84 and let its words comfort you.

Accompany God into His plans to prosper you!
