The Daily Guide
Are you road worthy?
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
Proverbs 1:23 - KJV
My car goes in for its annual M.O.T. soon. This "M.O.T." is the British road worthiness test for vehicles. It's required by British law. I used to consider it a stressful experience and a nuisance. I've come to appreciate, though, how valuable it is. The test puts your car under scrutiny and pinpoints problems. If anything needs attention, you get a detailed action list to be carried out before it is passed. The end result is you avoid accidents, reduce pollution and often even save fuel.
Heaven calls God's people to come in for a spiritual "road worthiness test". The Holy Spirit is on standby to take you through a thorough check. He'll pinpoint any problems. He will gently and caringly locate for you any underlying problems. In encouraging tones He'll advise, "Adjust this part of your life, fine tune that and renew this. Do this and you'll soon be back in tip top condition!" Receive His counsel as an action list. Start working your way through that list and you'll motor forwards in life leaving no pollution, having no accidents and creating a trail of blessing! Ps.139:23-24.
Instead of charging onwards without pause in your life, step aside and let the Holy Spirit run a check list on your fitness for the road. Give Him an opportunity to run a check on your life. Let Him present you with an action plan for revitalising it. Open yourself up to counsel that will lead you to adjust, fine tune and renew your life. Afterwards follow through on what He points out. With the Holy Spirit you can be a praise worthy vessel for God! Ps.26:2.
