Find fresh courage in God
After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
1 Kings 19:12 - NKJV
The devil hates your spiritual liberty! To lock you out from that spiritual life, he'll use devices formed against your soul. Despondency is one of those devices. Despondency is what's come on you when you say, "It's not worth me trying any further; all I do never works out like I pictured it should!" Take heart, you're not the first, Elijah the prophet also got despondent. 1 Kgs.19:4.
In despondency, Elijah crawled into a hole in the ground! It reminds me of what our youngest son used to do, when things didn't go as he wished he'd hide himself behind the sofa. He only saw the immediate, external effects of events on himself and had no vision for what might be if he hung on and worked his way through things. So it was with Elijah! Elijah needed a revelation of the delicate inner workings of God and of God at work behind the scenes. Once he got that he got back into public ministry. 1 Kgs.19:9.
Perhaps like Elijah you've had your disappointments. Maybe you've struggled to apply some spiritual principles to your life and seemingly failed. Nevertheless, if you are allowing disappointments to make you despondent then that despondency is denying the personal love, individual care and faithfulness of God. By it you're laying the responsibility at God's door instead of your own. Scripture says to you, "Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord!" Stand in prayer before the Lord and let Him reveal Himself within you! Stand and watch as He reveals His work in the conditions of your life! Psa.46:10, Psa.63:2.
Look up to behold God at work!
