The Light of Life
It is God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
2 Corinthians 4:6-7 - NKJV
What is seen in the face of Jesus? It's the light of the knowledge of the glory of God! This is why, when Jesus was transfigured, His face shone like the sun! The sun is the only thing nearing comparison with the light of the knowledge of the glory of God. It illustrates something of it's awesome power! It is this awesome power that God has shone into our hearts! Mat.17:2.
The day you accepted Jesus into your heart you received the gift of eternal life. With eternal life comes eternal light. This light is the light of God. It is in your heart. God has beamed that light into your heart. The light of God is as powerful as the sun and you and I have this treasure in the "unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives". (Eugene Peterson)
It ought to be incredible to us how little of this is getting out! Actually, it's not a "getting it out" problem, rather it's a "letting it out" one. Jesus let out the power of God within Him. He walked in God's ways and God's will so that God's power within Him could pass out of Him to heal and to restore. Mk.5:30. You and I need to study and get into God's ways. By this means, we can walk in God's will as Jesus walked. We can come to stand in the stature of Christ. When we do, then the excellency of the power within us will radiate out through these earthen vessels to heal and to restore!
