You and your world
If a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?
1 Timothy 3:5 - NKJV
There's a principle taught in the Bible that says how you get on with little indicates how you'll get on with much. Paul's advice to Timothy about church leaders, for example, came as a question, "How can someone who's failing in running well his household do well looking after one of God's congregations?" In other words, look how the small sphere of affairs is dealt with if you want to know how the big sphere of affairs will get taken care of.
I got a word from the Lord related to this once. I was ministering at our Sunday service. There was a good atmosphere. People were blessing and being blessed. Everyone was secure enough in the climate created to be freely contributing to the event with a complete absence of any fears of reproach and an enjoyment of their association with one another. As I reflected on this the Lord said, "What you have here is what you have at home." It came across to me as, "Your church situation is a replication of your family situation."
This kind of thing works right down to the level of the simplest situations you come into. A lady asked me in an email, "How will my upcoming meeting with a former friend go?" Strange question to ask me, I thought. Nevertheless, an answer came up in my spirit, "It will go well to the degree you are secure in yourself about yourself!" This is true for each one of us. Allow the Holy Spirit to give you inner security. Let Him put things right for you in you and then that "rightness" will move with you into your church, into your work place and into your circle of friends.
You can be a blessing!
