Spiritual discernment
You foolish Galatians! who has bewitched you - before whose very eyes was portrayed Jesus Christ crucified!
Galatians 3:1 - Weymouth's translation
You have to hold your head in your hands at times with some of the things you hear Christians coming out with. There is spiritual foolishness even in the church as the apostle Paul in the scripture above bears witness to. How do you keep yourself untouched and unmoved by it? How do you prevent yourself getting off track like the Galatians did? You have to value spiritual discernment. Spiritual discernment comes by the Holy Spirit. As Christians we have to cultivate our spiritual discernment. 1Cor.12:1-11.
Go and plant yourself in the good soil that is God's Word. As the Psalmist declares, "Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God." It is there that you will grow in spiritual discernment. Locate yourself in the centre ground of God's Word. It is one who is lacking in wisdom who seeks out an obscure corner of God's Word in which to plant himself. Plant yourself where there is a rich vein of soil which runs all through the Bible. It's easily recognisable for the message of God's dependability, constancy, mercy and grace will be easily seen there. Planting yourself in that place will soon see you growing straight and tall in Christ for the soil of scripture facilitates it there. Psa.92:13, 2Tim.2:15.
Get yourself planted in the sure, widespread soils of scripture and one day you'll grow tall enough to look out over the surrounding Bible terrain at the rare soils too. You'll grow strong and sturdy enough in the sure soils to have such a vantage point of the rare soil so that you can look over to see what that rightly has to offer too. You can be confident your spiritual discernment will flourish as you get your life planted in good Word soil. Heb.13:9.
May God bless you with keen spiritual discernment
