The Daily Guide
Onwards and upwards
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, they make it a spring; the rain also covers it with pools. They go from strength to strength; each one appears before God in Zion.
Psalm 84:5-7 - NKJV
There are times of trial and there are times of triumph. Our lives inevitably go through phases. David the psalmist, as an example, went through time in wilderness and he had time in the palace. Scripture indicates his heart, though, was set on pilgrimage. Like him let's not camp out or take up permanent residence in either tribulation or triumph. Let's journey on. In our Christian lives there's so much more yet to come. Ahead of us in Christ there's more enlightenment, more faith and more strength. And as we travel there's more joy, love and peace to come.
In the midst of trouble or triumph guard against losing the vision for progress. Don't stop doing the things that make for progress or you'll come to a spiritual stand still. The sight of a Christian at a stand still in his life is a sad one. It's sad because everything is spiritually passing that Christian by. As a result he is rapidly getting out of touch with the Kingdom of God and its activity on the earth. What are you do to ensure you continue to journey forwards in Christ? Here's a three point list 1) Keep looking into the mirror of glory - God's word. 2) Keep living by faith! 3) Keeping drawing up with joy eternal water in spite of any trials you face. 2 Cor.3:18, Ro.1:17.
Carry on, continue to make progress in Christ. Keep a vital sense of seeking to move on deeper and further in Him. It will keep you vitally alive in Him. Keep reminding yourself, "I haven't made it yet but I'm going onwards!" This is what Paul did. He declared, "I count not myself to have apprehended but...I reach forth!" Phil.3:12,14.
Keep a vision for glory in Christ
