Learning to rest and rejoice
I (Paul) thank my God upon every remembrance of you [Gospel companions]. Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:3,6-7 - NKJV
All of us do it. We get so caught up in service that we forget we need to keep releasing the responsibility for it into the Lord's hands. As a result, before we know it, out hearts are getting cluttered with care and our shoulders are bowed over with loads. This is not how it ought to be. Give over that work load to the Lord. If He's the One you've been allowing to initiate the work then He is that One who will carry it through to completion - if you'll let Him! He began this good work in you and He is more than willing to continue it.
This morning I got into praise and then began to pray in tongues. It was only then I realised my heart was carrying baggage; it was holding the burden that comes when you take things on yourself. So I poured it all out to God. I released it into His hands. I let His word remind me that He had initiated all these things and therefore He was the One who ought to be continuing them. I let Him again have full charge over the affairs of my life and my service in His kingdom. I began to rejoice and I came to rest. Ps.62:8.
I commend you to do likewise! You'll soon be rejoicing as you realise you can rest in the Lord no matter what the undertaking is you're involved in. You'll be praising when you see you can let the Lord facilitate things and carry them through. You can turn them all over to Him to perform while you enjoy the journey glorying in His power. Heb.4:9-10.
Let the Lord work it out!
