The Word of God's Grace
Now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who sanctified.
Acts 20:32 - NKJV
The apostle Paul spoke those words. I often use them when I pray for my church members. They are words that put people in the best possible care - the care of God and the word of His grace. I rest in the Lord when I know my people are in such care.
The word of His grace is a word that trains. Give it place and space in your life, attending to it as you would a sown seed, and it will lead you forward into a glorious future in Christ. It's worth noting a stark contrast here. The children of Israel were delivered over to the word of His law but we, in Christ, are commended to the word of His grace! The word of His grace is our portion as people of the New Covenant. The word of His law was a disciplinary word that said, "Thus far and no further. Don't cross this line or you'll get it!" The word of His grace is a training word that says, "Go this way, it leads to a blessing! Avoid that way, it only heads to trouble." Tit.2:12, Prov.4:20-22.
Notice this other wonderful information about the word of His grace. Paul says, "It is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among the saints". Child of God, there is an inheritance for you left by Christ and the word of His grace can see you come into it! This inheritance is everything Christ left us. It's the legacy He left us through the offering of Himself as the Lamb of God. Isaiah prophesied that by this inheritance, "No weapon formed against you shall prosper!" Isa.54:17.
May you come into this inheritance!
