God of peace
Make it your ambition to be living a quiet life, and that you are cultivating the habit of attending to your own private affairs, and that you are working with your hands, even as I gave you a charge.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 - Wuest's Translation
"Aspire to lead a quiet life" is how another translation states the opening of that verse. Now don't get the wrong idea about what "a quiet life" refers to! It is not talking about a life removed from action and adventure. That verse was penned by the apostle Paul. What a man of action, adventure and pioneering he was! A "quiet life" refers to what you have when the storm is rebuked and peace prevails over you. Mar.4:39.
Have the ambition to be living a quiet life! To have such an ambition is to look to live where God has stilled the storms that raged and caused peace to become the climate of your life. Follow the counsel Paul gives and you can head into a life climate like that, "Cultivate the habit of attending to your own affairs." Is that a habit you are cultivating? How well are you getting on with that habit? You need to attend to your affairs diligently. Prioritise matters needing your attention and deal with them in order of that priority by the Holy Spirit's leading.
On one occasion a church member of mine got himself into a proper mess. His attention had been drawn to the potential for the problem arising. However, he was slow to do anything about it. Related problems had already arisen twice. Having done little or nothing about it it was happening again! Recovery from this occasion wasn't going to be so easy. Learn from this - don't delay! Be diligent to take care of your affairs!
Get it done, get it attended to!
