Modernisation or total reconstruction?

by Pastor Simon

The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.

Psalm 118:22 - NKJV

What have you done with your old life since you came to Jesus? Have you simply restructured it to make it more habitable? Or have you made a radical fresh start and chosen to rebuild it around the new chief cornerstone Jesus? God raised Jesus from the dead and declared Him as the Chief Cornerstone. It is around this Chief Cornerstone we are all to rebuild our lives!

I live in an historic Regency town in England called Cheltenham. Over the last 18 months or so I've noticed new apartments or town houses under construction in many of the older parts of town. Some are totally new structures - the land having been cleared to make a new start. Quite a number, though, retain the outer walls of the old property and restructure the building behind those walls into dwelling places.

There's something wrong with the approach many of believers to Christianity. They've moved in and done some modernisation work on their living zone. However, they've failed to undertake a total rebuilding. If God thought modernisation was all that was needed why did He prepare a Chief Cornerstone for the building? The original builders rejected this stone but the resurrection gave us the opportunity to accept it and rebuild our lives wholly focused and related to Him. Call in the site engineer - the Holy Spirit. Get out the building plans - the Bible. From the plans allow the Site Engineer to rebuild your life! Heb.3:6, Col.2:6-10.

Diligently rebuild your life on Jesus!
