A sphere of glory

by Pastor Simon

He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

John 14:12 - NKJV

Those words above challenge us as Christians! How are we to step into the fulfilment of such a promise? I can't tell you everything about that but I can give you the starting point. The starting point is believe. Believe is the condition of that promise because Jesus has made the promise to "he who believes in Me". Here's a good definition of genuine believing, "The leaning of your entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness". (Dr. Alexander Souter 1873-1949) 2Tim.1:5, Heb.11:6.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Disney film "The Flight of the Navigator". Sometime afterwards, I was reflecting on the promise above and I was reminded of it. In the film a boy gets into what in shape looks like a water droplet but turns out to be a time-space module in which he then flies. It came to me that in Jesus we have a spiritual module like that. It's as though, by believing in Jesus, we enter into that spiritual module. By believing we enter into Christ's works - we move in His sphere of glory, we reach out into all the earth with His ministry.

Believe in Christ at the level where you are committing your entire weight and existence on Him. When you do this you are setting yourself in the very module of life and goodness that Jesus Himself occupied during His ministry on earth. Jesus has given you His spiritual sphere of glory to move in because has gone to the Father and left you to pilot it. Enter it by believing in Him. Believe with genuine faith! Sit yourself down in His sphere of glory and learn how to be doing His works.

Christ has left His sphere of glory for you.
