Following the counsel of God
Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalms 37:3-4 - NKJV
The Bible gives you practical counsel directed at what you do, what you say and what you think. In following it your life's spiritual dimension gets to impact on all it's other dimensions.
The precious promise I've given you above is prefaced by counsel to perform. It's almost like there's a process you've got to get in on. This process is one about your lifestyle and your relationship with God. I'll talk you through that process: 1) Trust. Set yourself and the weight of all your affairs and cares on the Lord like a building stone on the building's corner stone. 2) Do good. Do that which is intrinsically good, that is to say, that which the Holy Spirit puts in your heart to do. 3) Feed on His faithfulness. Take to heart what God's word declares about God and His promises to you so that its declaration ministers encouragement and comfort to you. 4) Delight yourself in the Lord. Revel in God and the relationship He has with you. There, then, are four things to daily do. By doing them you approach the place of the promise's fulfilment. Phil.4:4-9.
Recognise it when God's word provides you with practical counsel. Start to apply it. By doing this, a way is opened for God's goodness to have expression in your life. Failing to recognise that practical counsel causes you to miss out on many of His blessings. God's counsel is for the moment by moment aspects of your life so that by following it His promises may be fulfilled to you.
From God may all good come to you!
