God on our side

Christian, you are never alone in life. It makes no difference where you are or what circumstance you are in. God has committed Himself to His people. He has a watch over us. He acknowledges our loyalty to Him. He is faithful to His commitment to us. He looks towards us ready to reveal His mighty, saving power on our behalf.
I once found myself standing in the dark outside Surabaya on the road to Jakarta in Indonesia. I had travelled five days and nights on a coconut oil freighter from North Sumatra. I was tired and I was desperate to get to my wife who was due at any day to give birth. I had no money and frankly didn't exactly have an abundance of faith at that moment either. "Shall we go and talk to those men over there at that bus, Papa?" one of my children said. "Oh, do what you like!" I replied despondently and continued to stand where I was. "Papa," a call soon came, "The men at the bus want to take us to Jakarta! But first they've invited us to eat with them."
Next morning, after the overnight trip in the air-conditioned bus, we reached home and my dear, pregnant wife. "Have you got a midwife or doctor arranged for the birth?" I asked. "No," she replied, "I haven't been able to get out anywhere." "Let's pray then and I'll go out to make arrangements at the nearest hospital," I responded. The very next morning Ruth woke me early saying. "I'm going to have the baby!" Just hours later I held her hand as she gave birth safely to our daughter Julianna.
