Jesus, precious Shepherd
Behold the Lord God...He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young.
Isaiah 40:10-11 - NKJV
The Lord is a shepherd to you! In daily fellowship with Jesus you can experience His tender care for you. It is in this experience that your affection for Him will grow. Once you know Him as the One who has led you, fed you and even carried you then He will be very precious to you. 1 Pet.2:7
Reflect for a moment on the affection a lamb has for the good shepherd who reared it by hand. Imagine the lamb's affection for the shepherd if he were also to have rescued it from the wolf's mouth and carried it until its wounds were healed. It is a depth of affection like this that we are to have for Jesus. Jesus has rescued us! He is ready to carry us when we are weak. He is ready to feed us with the milk of His word as if from a bottle while we are spiritually feeble or small. Afterwards, as we increase in strength, He will lead us as a shepherd to where the spiritual food is best. Joh.10:11, Psa.23:1-3.
Get up in the morning, get into prayer first thing and have Jesus wrap His arms around you and be a refuge to you. Behold the Lord there for you, watching over you and ready to receive you into His arms. Let Him protect and provide for you. Fellowship with Him, feed at His hand. It is in finding the Lord every morning that you can live your day in the knowledge of His loving care and concern. The more you know of Jesus the more precious He will be to you! Jer.29:13-14.
