Be pleasing to God

by Pastor Simon

Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, you people in whose heart is My law; Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their insults.

Isaiah 51:7 - NKJV

What sways you? Is it the reaction of men or the counsel of the Lord? You hear from God. You receive in your heart His words to speak or His way to go. However, the moment you set about going that way or speaking those words you can find you receive a negative reaction from people. You mustn't let it get to you! Serving the Lord or simply living godly in Christ Jesus can bring you reproach and even insults but don't let it intimidate you.

I have to watch out for this when I'm preaching. My spiritual ear is tuned to God's Spirit as I speak but, if I do not guard my mind from reacting to what my eyes see on the faces, then I can get side-tracked from the direction God's Spirit is leading me in the message He has given me. Facial expressions in a crowd can look bad. They could be reacting badly to what I'm saying or maybe they've just got stomach pain. Whatever the cause, I have to keep looking to God and listening to Him. Likewise for you, as you walk and talk as God leads you in life guard yourself against the pushes and pulls of human reactions. 2Tim.3:12-17.

In your family, in your church and in your community let God have your ear and let the people have His love. Walk in love towards people and walk in all sensitivity around them by His Spirit but see to it that God is the One who has sway over your words and actions. Take time to see and hear what God is showing and saying and go with that! Let it be the primary moving factor in your life!

Be conscious of God and please Him!
