Good Shepherd and lead sheep
Jesus said to them, He who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. I am the good shepherd.
John 10:4,14 - NKJV
In ancient Palestine one sheep moving off after the shepherd caused other sheep also to lift up their heads from grazing and move on with their shepherd to better pasture. Know this, likewise, that your spiritual responsiveness as spiritual sheep under Jesus, the Great Shepherd, stirs responsiveness from other members of the flock! Heb.13:20.
In a flock, most of the sheep look like they have no eye for the shepherd; all they seem to have an eye for is the grass under their noses. The shepherd can stand up and turn to go to fresh pastures while the whole flock seem to continue totally absorbed in feeding on what little grass they have. What changes this condition? It changes when one of the sheep, a lead sheep, acknowledges the shepherd's movements and sets off to follow Him! You can be such a sheep. By your attentiveness to the Shepherd and your promptness to follow His lead you can start other believers following Him as He leads the way to better pastures! Mar.8:34.
Be a lead sheep! Be a sheep the Shepherd can rely on to be the first to move with Him! Be a sheep the other sheep can take their lead from in following Jesus! May your prayer, worship and word time give you a hunger to stick close to our Shepherd, Jesus. May you follow Him to pastures where the feeding is always good. May others see your lead and follow Jesus. 1Cor.11:1.
Give a lead for others to follow!
