God's keynote speech!

by Pastor Simon

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9 - NKJV

It takes courage to take new ground. Every new year offers to us new ground that we can take if we have vision and courage. Stand at this doorway to the new year and look ahead in faith and with the vision the Holy Spirit gives you. What are you going to do with this new year? Linger awhile with the Lord before you cross the threshold into it. Give the Lord you attention while He imparts to your heart courage by the words of promise He speaks.

Before Joshua crossed the river Jordan into the Promised Land God spoke to him. What Joshua heard was like a keynote speech. It was motivational and inspirational. It gave direction and imparted courage. God knew that in order for Joshua to be successful in leading the people to take the Promised Land he would need vision, determination and courage. For this reason, to set him on his way, God spoke to him words of counsel and encouragement. Those words steadied Joshua and showed him how to be successful in taking the land. Read Joshua 1:1-9.

Give time to God before the new year begins so you can hear the keynote speech He has for you. As you stand before the new ground the future year offers God's message to you is going to be like the message He gave to Joshua. Take time to let Him tell you how He's going to be right there accompanying you at every step of the way! Take time to hear His exhortation. He'll call you to be strong in the Lord and courageous by the Holy Spirit! Ponder His words of promise. Take in His counsel with understanding, having confidence in it and determination to do it!

Go forwards with courage!
