Actions of faith
Look to Abraham your father, And to Sarah who bore you; For I called him alone, And blessed him and increased him.
Isaiah 51:2 - NKJV
The scripture above calls us to look to Abraham. It calls us to look towards him to see how he was blessed by God but also to see why he was blessed by God. Why do you think he was blessed by God? Because his faith in God was reckoned to him for righteousness. In everything that he did Abraham showed faith. Abraham's walking, talking and doing all had faith as a background to them. Ro.4:16-24.
A few years ago someone who was a member of my church told me he didn't walk directly thorough town any more. "Someone I know is out of prison and punching people," he said, "so I'm walking well around anywhere he might be." "Doing that," I responded, "is harming faith in you. Faith lives where the action can be seen that corresponds to it. Fear in you is rendering faith dead! You need faith alive in you." I then told him to write out Psalm 91 and carry it with him at all times meditating on its promises at every opportunity. Ja.2:18-23.
How is it with you? Is faith in you being allowed to have action in your life? Never let fear be impelling you - let God's love for you and in you eject fear from you! Let faith emerge to direct your steps. If faith has residence in you your actions will show it. What did you do today? Did you do it in faith? Was faith's presence in you reflected in your actions? If not, stop and hear God's word until faith comes again and you can walk again in faith. Look to God's Spirit. He'll give you wisdom for the right route to take.
Like Abraham, walk in faith!
