Comforted and accompanied!

by Pastor Simon

I will not leave you to face life all alone. I am coming to you.

John 14:18 - Barclay's Translation

Having spent three and a half years alongside His disciples comforting them, instructing them and healing them, Jesus didn't say, "Right, I'm off! Manage the best you can. I'll be back sometime later." No, He declared they wouldn't have to face life all alone! Then, after departing, He stood at God's right hand and received from the Father for us the promise of the Holy Spirit! Acts 2:33

I was praying in a neighbourhood project centre and so clearly the Holy Spirit was there among us. He was guiding our prayer. He was filling the building with the peace of the Lord. One of the people praying needed prayer for healing from back trouble. I laid my hands on her according to scripture and at that I had this wonderful sense of God making available His power for restoration of health. At the same time I got a word from the Lord giving practical counsel to correct the causes of the trouble. This happens often also in my home as it does too in my church. Regularly by prayer family members and church members alike have their health restored. Acts 2:16-18.

What would you ask for if Jesus - God the Son - was in the room? Well, God the Holy Spirit is your room! The Holy Spirit is on the earth in every place at every time for all people all the time. He is the Divine Companion promised to you. In prayer ask the Father for what it is that you have need of (for yourself or for others) and by the power of His Spirit God will act. Joh.16:13-14.
