Walk wisely

by Pastor Simon

Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise. Making the very most of the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15-16 - Amplified Bible

"Live...not as the unwise and witless, but as wise." Note the word "wise". It's translated from the Greek word "sophos". Sophos is a very interesting word. Apparently, the Greeks derived it from the Hebrew word "sophim". To the Hebrews, sophim signified watchmen. Such watchmen went up in the mountains to look out all around and consider well how best to take action or go onwards. Indeed, the field from which Balak looked out over the camps of the children of Israel was named Zophim. Nu.23:14.

Wise believers are watchmen. They look down on movements on the earth from their high place of sitting together with Christ in heavenly places. They look up on movements in the heavenly realm with the vision that the Holy Spirit gives them. A wise Christian goes to these vantage points in his or her time of worship and prayer. From what they see there they consider well their plans and their courses. Eph.2:6.

God doesn't want you constantly bumping into obstacles and coming up against numerous adversaries. God can provide clear paths in your life and He wants to give you all the advance information you need to successfully chart your course towards your destinations. Let the Holy Spirit show you "the things which are and the things which will take place after this". Let your prayer time and your devotional time be times when you see things that God sees. Rev.1:19.

Let God can show you the way to walk!
