Soul damage

by Pastor Simon

I said, "Lord, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You."

Psalm 41:4 - NKJV

Sin damages the soul. We are used to praying and asking the Father to forgive us for sin and He is faithful to do this. Yet we should also pray and ask the Father for healing from the soul damage sin has caused. He will be equally faithful to provide this. Often He will give us a prescription from His Word for recovery. 1 Pet.2:11, 1 Joh.1:9.

The picture I get is of a walled city in ancient times. The inhabitants are reprobate showing all irreverence and irresponsibility. They damage their own walls and no one repairs the breaches. This encourages in wandering characters of a very troublesome nature who cause yet more damage. In time, the city falls into a state of defencelessness against its enemies. This is what will be happening to the city of your soul if you are committing sin without repentance, forgiveness and healing of the soul damage caused. Prov.25:28.

In Christ you can have salvation for your soul as wonderfully as you have received it for your spirit. Your soul gets lost, damaged and disorientated by sin but if you will come to the Father by Jesus He'll restore your soul and bring it back into the fullness of the Father's peace. Be moved by the knowledge of the damage sin does to act against sin in your life and prevent its further occurrence. And, for where sin has already caused damage, after calling on the Father for forgiveness also call on Him for His healing! 1 Pet.1:8-9, Psa.23:3, Mat.11:29.

Call on the Lord to restore your soul!
