Call to prayer
Powerful is the heartfelt supplication of a righteous man. Elijah...earnestly prayed...and no rain fell on the land for three years and six months. Again he prayed, and the sky gave rain...
James 5:16-17 - Weymouth's Translation
Prayer is the magnificent opportunity God has granted to His people to be a determining force in the earth! God has granted us the ability to take charge of affairs in the earth; not by the use of an earthly force but through the might of prayer using spiritual authority! Eph.6:18-19.
Besides this, there is a mighty influence we can have in people's lives by prayer. For example, in prayer you can make intercession for change in the direction of a loved one's life. You can pray grace into his or her life. This grace will be to them a holy influence drawing them back from destruction and ushering them into the goodness and mercy of God. Real change in a person's life has to be by God's Spirit and by God's grace and this requires your prayer. You can learn to pray like this under the tuition of the Holy Spirit. 1Tim.2:1-4, Ro.8:26-27.
Where are those who have put themselves through the school of prayer with Christ and are now growing in stature as intercessors under the power of the Holy Spirit? Where are our skillful practitioners of prayer? Just think what men and women of faith could be accomplishing by prayer! Won't you be one of them? Pray in all forms of prayer, namely, supplication, intercession and petition. Pray in the principles of prayer - pray 1) with praise, 2) in faith, 3) in the Spirit, 4) in agreement with others, 5) presenting God's promises. Act.4:23-31.
May you know the power of heartfelt prayer
